Three of our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) win 2020 ANCOR Foundation Awards!

The ANCOR Foundation is a national trade association created to recognize and assist those who provide the programs, and support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), like Sunrise Community, Inc. ANCOR also provides leadership in supporting career professionals as they become the next generation of I/DD leaders.

As part of that initiative is the Annual DSP of the Year Awards. Sunrise is proud to announce that three of our team members have received 2020 ANCOR awards:

Telease Davis – Winner 2020 Alabama DSP of the Year!

Surmsuk Koonvisal – Winner 2020 Florida DSP Professional of the Year for NADSP Tenets!

Markeita Meeks – Winner 2020 DSP of the Year Tenet Award Relationships!

Telease Davis (Sunrise Community of Alabama, Inc) has been a DSP for 28 years, 15 of which have been with Sunrise. Telease is highly involved with each person she works with, supporting them with respect and dignity. Her out going, energetic personality is well known to residents and all of them enjoy an enhanced and more meaningful life thanks in no small part to Telease. She provides an amazing amount of support and empathy to every individual she interacts with. Way to go Telease!

Surmsuk “Nuni” Koonvisal (Sunrise Community, Inc) has supported people with intellectual and developmental disabilities for 16 years. Nuni’s patience, love and great communication skills has positively impacted countless people as she’s played a key role enriching their lives. We are so proud that Nuni has been with for all of her 16 years and we couldn’t be prouder of her and the tireless dedication she brings to her job. We are blessed to have her.

Markeita Meeks (Sunrise Community of Maryland) has been working with people with developmental disabilities for four years. But what an impression she has made in those years! Distinguishing herself by forming strong bonds with people she works with, making a difference in their daily activities and treating everyone with dignity and respect. Many of the people Markeita works with have serious physical challenges, but we can always count on her going above and beyond. We are lucky to have her!

Congratulations Telease, Surmsuk and Markeita!

It’s an honor to work alongside you.
